THE EYES HAVE IT!
It has long been said that the eyes are the window to the soul. The proverb has been traced back in English to “Regiment of Life” in 1545, but in roughly 50 B.C., Cicero is quoted as saying, “The face is a picture of the mind as the eyes are its interpreter.” The French say, “Les yeux sont le miroir de l’dme” (the eyes are the mirror of the soul).
The first wine we made was pinot noir, and we made the color of the wolf’s eyes blue on the label because, at birth, wolves have blue eyes. As wolves mature, their eye color often changes to yellow-gold or amber-orange. This is why you will see yellow eyes on our chardonnay and amber eyes on the cabernet sauvignon.
