2019 for our friends
The 2019 vintage was an excellent vintage over all; a “classic” vintage. It provided us an excellent crop of sensational fruit. The wines are also showing ready approachability at release with fleshy lusciousness and round tannins. This was welcome as the 2018 was also stellar, but provided much more tension which grants long term age-ability but requires more patience for the wines to coalesce. As Decanter put it, “A wet winter and cool spring delayed budbreak throughout most of the Napa Valley, while a warm, even growing season allowed for slow, phenolic maturity. The resulting Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant wines are fresh and vivid, with intense black fruits, savouriness and concentration. Very classic in style, with great balance, energy and tension, they exude upfront drinking pleasure but also have impeccable structure for long-term cellaring.”
As we venture toward releasing our 2020 Atlas Peak Cabernet, we thought it would be interesting to look back to a range of Napa Cabernet wines. We find ourselves in great company with our friends and colleagues all producing succulent and balanced wines in the 2019 vintage. These are wines that received like scores to our flagship 2019 Atlas Peak Cabernet Sauvignon with average pricing, for reference. We are continually so proud of our star winemaker, Victoria, whose careful attention to each row, each vine grows exceptional fruit lending itself to a world class, exemplary wine. We’re nearly sold out of the 2019 vintage, so if you have none in your cellar, don’t hesitate!
