After leaving the Central Valley, Krys got her undergraduate degree at University of San Francisco, and a Masters at Mills College in Oakland, California. She has successfully balanced a business as an optical industry consultant with the challenges of raising two sons.
She has also given a lot of energy to several philanthropic, educational and advocacy organizations. She was Past President of the Piedmont League of Women Voters, and a sustainer in the East Bay Junior League. She served for ten years on the Board of Directors for EdSource, an independent, non-partisan organization that worksd to engage Californians on key education challenges with the goal of enhancing learning success.
She is currently serving as the national membership chair for the American Association of University Women, having completed her term as a national director on the board. She has served as a past California State President of AAUW as well, an organization empowering women since 1881 and advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.
